Eco = a safe choice

Organic food is becoming increasingly common in Polish homes. We usually choose it out of concern for the planet, although there are many more reasons to choose “eco” products. One of the key reasons is food safety. Below, we explain why organic products are considered particularly trustworthy and what makes them so special.

Organic products are produced on farms with special certification. They operate according to different principles than traditional farms, focusing on quality and respect for the environment. In practice, this means, among other things:

  • a ban on the use of certain chemicals for plant protection,
  • the obligation to support biodiversity, care for soil fertility and animal welfare,
  • the use of renewable energy sources,
  • minimising negative impact on the environment.

Compliance with these principles is regularly monitored, so consumers can be sure that products labelled as organic are safe and of high quality.

Although all food available on the market must meet safety standards, the requirements for organic products are much more stringent. That is why many people perceive them as a safer and healthier choice.

What determines this?

  • No chemical fertilisers or pesticides – organic farming prohibits the use of artificial plant protection products, growth regulators or herbicides.
  • Lower risk of contamination – organic products contain fewer nitrates and lower concentrations of heavy metals and other undesirable substances.
  • No antibiotics – animals on organic farms are not given antibiotics prophylactically, so there are no residues in meat or dairy products.
  • Clean composition – at least 95% of the ingredients in an organic product must come from certified sources.
  • Natural additives – organic food uses traditional ingredients such as yeast, baking powder, citric acid and natural thickeners instead of synthetic preservatives and colourings.

Vegetables, fruit and cereals grown without synthetic additives retain their nutritional value, which is important for people who care about a balanced diet. This is particularly appreciated by parents of young children – babies are extremely sensitive to artificial additives, which is why food safety is of paramount importance in their case. By choosing organic products, you can not only diversify your daily menu, but also be sure that their quality is guaranteed by a rigorous certification system.
